Resources & FAQ

The questions most people have before reaching out.

If yours isn't here, just ask — there's no wrong question.

Do you prescribe medication?

Yes. Clear Ground focuses on psychiatric evaluation and medication management. We'll only consider medication if it makes sense for you, and we'll always talk through the options, what to expect, and the trade-offs first.

What ages do you see?

Clear Ground cares for patients across the lifespan — children, teens, and adults, from age five and up. For younger patients, I work closely with parents and caregivers, and keep everything age-appropriate.

Are you a therapist?

No — I provide psychiatric care, not talk therapy. Many people benefit from both, and I'm glad to help you find a therapist and coordinate with them so your care works together.

What is functional psychiatry — do you replace medication with supplements?

Functional psychiatry looks for root causes of symptoms — things like thyroid, hormone, vitamin, iron, blood-sugar, or sleep issues — and treats the whole person. It's integrative, not anti-medication: sometimes the answer is correcting an underlying medical cause or making a targeted nutrient or lifestyle change, and sometimes medication is exactly what helps. We decide together. Learn more here.

What happens at the first appointment?

It's a comprehensive, roughly 60-minute conversation. We'll go through your history, what you're experiencing now, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping for — then build a plan together. No rushing, no checklist.

Do you offer in-person visits?

Clear Ground is telehealth-first — most visits happen by secure video, so you can be seen from wherever you're most comfortable, anywhere in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. In-person visits are available in New Jersey when they're required: for example, adults managed on certain controlled (Schedule II) medications, whom New Jersey requires be seen in person periodically — currently about every 90 days.

Do you take insurance?

Yes — Clear Ground is in-network with [list your accepted plans here]. For anyone paying out of pocket, sliding-scale rates are available, so cost doesn't have to be the reason you don't reach out. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill to submit for possible reimbursement.

How often will we meet?

Usually every couple of weeks at first, then less often as you steady. We adjust the rhythm to what you need — you're never rushed, and never left to figure things out alone.

What if I'm in crisis?

Clear Ground is not an emergency or crisis service. If you're in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. You deserve support right now.
